Global Treks and Adventures Response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

*This will be continually updated, please check back for the latest information from your Global Treks Team.

Global Treks and Adventures is closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the US State Department regarding the most up to date travel recommendations, health warnings and suggestions for prevention. We are committed to sharing this information with our students/clients as best we can, and are continuously evaluating how the Coronavirus (COVID-19) may impact our programming and travelers throughout the world.

We work closely with our local contacts in each country we operate, as well as connect with our local US government agencies, to maintain the most up to date communication regarding all aspects of travel risks. At this time, we feel comfortable maintaining our course while keeping a close eye on the potential risks posed by COVID-19. Our students’ safety remains our priority and our focus will remain on supporting the health of our participants/instructors and communicates we work within, both here in the US and abroad.

stress-free TRANSFERABLE deposits:

If you need to postpone your travels, your deposits are fully transferable to a future travel opportunity anytime in the next 2 years. You may also choose to transfer your deposit to a friend, family member or donate it to our Global Treks Support Fund for a future Global Trekker. Deposits still on hand after 2 years following your original expedition will be automatically donated to the Support Fund.

Cancellation Policy reminder:

Payments submitted following initial deposits are refundable (minus the transferable deposit) up to 45 days prior to the expedition. Cancellations made within 45 days of the expedition are not refundable.

covid-related Cancellation policy:

We want to keep everyone as safe as possible! If you test positive for Covid-19 within 14 days of the expedition, submit an official copy of your test results and your program fee will be 100% transferred to a future expedition of your choice within the next 2 years.

Hawaii-specific covid policies:

Hawaii has its own policies in place to continue to keep the health and safety of all visitors and citizens as their number 1 priority. As of January 2022, it is required for all persons over the age of 5 traveling to Hawaii to get Covid-19 tested within 72 hours of travel at a pre-appointed testing location. Remember, by making safe choices (wearing a mask and self-isolating 2 weeks prior to your travel date), you can minimize your risk with Covid-19. Hawaii will also randomly test between 25 - 75% of travelers upon arrival, requiring anyone that tests positive to quarantine. By ensuring everyone adheres to the policies in place set in Hawaii, Global Treks is also excited to better protect and support our participants and staff in the field! More information regarding Hawaii’s policies can be found at the following site:

We do encourage all of our participants to obtain travel insurance to help ease their mind when it comes to the financial investment associated with any type of travel, whether traveling with Global Treks or any other organization. Global Treks will continue to honor our reimbursement policies, yet we also encourage participants to obtain insurance, as there are always unexpected hurdles that can occur with any type of travel.

We also encourage everyone to continue to practice safe and healthy precautions, especially hand-washing, to help combat the spread of any viral pathogen. We also encourage participants to remain vigilant in terms of seeking out trusted sources for updated information, including information from the CDC in their newsletter. You can sign up for their weekly newsletter HERE.

We will continue to provide updates on this page with relevant updates. We also welcome all communication via email or phone to our office for specific programming questions.
